PoggioVerrano, Dromos 2005: 93/100 by The Wine Collection / International Wine Challenge (London)

A new very prestigious rating & review for our top wine Dròmos !

The Library Collection is a competition with the aim to demonstrate the merits of premium wines and their cellaring potential. Each year the tasting focuses on 10 year old and 5 year old wines. The 2010 tasting has reviewed the 2000 and 2005 vintages. Wines are assessed for their current drinking as well as their cellaring potential. Indipendent professional tasters are invited to judge. Co-Chairmen: Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin MW, Sam Harrop MW, Derek Smedley MW, Charles Metcalfe. Advisory Board: Simon Berry - Berry Bros & Rudd, David Elswood - Christie's, Gary Boom - Bordeaux Index, Jamie Graham - Fine & Rare, Sebastian Payne MW - The Wine Society.

The results are published in the November 2010 issue of The World of Fine Wine Magazine and in the IWC’s The World’s Best Wines 2011 book. Then the winning wines are invited to tastings in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore.

Here is the review of Dròmos 2005 “Mid ruby. Ruby/garnet rim. Big weighty style, holds together well. Smoke, dusty, coal notes. Meaty on nose. Smooth initial attack, good weight, dark plum and smoke flavours. 93/100
