Me, Francesco Bolla

Born in Verona, the only son of the late Franco I am the grandson of Alberto (the “grandfather” of Amarone wine) and the great-grandson of Bolla winery founder Abele; I live in the family villa in Valpolicella.
I hold a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Padua.
At the beginning of my career I have worked as indipendent CPA and then for Coopers & Lybrand (Milan) in the position of Senior Auditor.
Then I have worked in the wine sales & marketing department of Brown-Forman Corp. (USA).
In 1987 I joined the Bolla winery (Verona).
I have served on the Board of Directors of Bolla winery since 1989; I was appointed Chairman and Managing Director in 1995. I initiated and guided personally the development of Bolla's wines family such as the introduction of popular varietals, a comprehensive restyling of the traditional classic wines and the new special reserve and proprietary wines; among the others, under my management the expansion and the renovation of the Bolla’s main winery in Pedemonte has been accomplished. In my capacity as official spokesperson for Bolla wines, I participated on wine industry panels and conducted wine tastings and educational seminars. An international wine personality, I demonstrated a passionate commitment to furthering the presence of Italian wines in world markets.
I have been a member of the Board of Federvini (based in Rome), the national association of Italian Wine and Spirit Industries, and President of its Wine Syndicate; I have served as Board member of Unione Italiana Vini (based in Milan), the Italian Wine coalition; I have been President of the Verona Wine Industry Association and member of the Veneto Inter-professional Committee for Viticulture. I have been member of the Italian Food & Wine Institute (based in New York) and have served as Chairman of its Wine Advisory Committee.
Then in year 2000 I have started my own new winery in Tuscany: Tenuta PoggioVerrano .....
